Inspire Coaching Now-How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be

How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be
By Jack Canfield
Co-creator of Chicken Soup for the Soul

Jack Canfield is one of the more popular and successful writers in the self-help field. He has sold more than 100 million books in 46 languages. He is a successful author, professional speaker, seminar leader, corporate trainer, and entrepreneur.

Jack Canfield takes a very frank and honest approach in delivering his message on how to achieve your goals in an entertaining and humorous style.

His Key Principles in the book are:

- Take 100% responsibility- You determine your Success

- Decide what you want- Then make it Happen

- Believe it’s possible- Because it is

His style of writing makes this book which is more than 350 pages very easy and informative to read, while at the same time challenging you to question your real desire to achieve your goals. Make no mistake Jack Canfield is very candid and does warn you in the Introduction.

“That any change requires sustained effort to overcome years’ worth of internal and external resistance.
Highlighting “Initially you may find yourself getting very excited about all this new information.”. You may feel a newfound sense of hope and enthusiasm for the new vision of your life as it can be. This is good. But be forewarned that you may also begin to experience other feelings as well”…….You may also find there will be times when you wonder, Why isn’t all this working faster? Why haven’t I achieved my goal? Success takes time, effort, perseverance, and patience……It won’t happen overnight.

At no stage do you feel he is lecturing you or talking down to you as he goes guides you the principles to achieve your goals. If the book has one challenge, I would say it is the number of principles covered in the book. This can be a bit overwhelming, and may intimidate  readers.

Visually the book is also a bit dated. Considering the amount of information covered I feel a more dynamic visual style with more images would appeal more to an audience that are now so used to getting their information in short very visual imagery  on the internet.

However saying that if you are looking for a guide on how to achieve your goals or incorporate the principles as a coach when you are working with clients. This is the book for you. What is a nice bonus, is the free resources on Jack Canfields website that will support you in applying the principles in The Success Principles How to Get from Where You Are to
Where You Want to Be.

THE GREATNESS GUIDE:

BY ROBIN SHARMA
Robin Sharma is a one of the more popular success coaches, leadership coach and consultant to organisations like Microsoft, Nike, NASA, KPMG and IBM.

Interestingly when I first came across Robin Sharma I wasn’t impressed at all with his writing. I had purchased his book the No.1 International Bestseller. THE MONK WHO SOLD HIS FERRARI, and I hated it and couldn’t even finish it and I really did try because I hate not
finishing a book.

But some time later I was passing through Dublin Airport and was looking for something to read. I spotted The Greatness Guide and flicking through it, I like the visual style and some of the concept headings. It wasn’t until I was on the plane that I realised it was written by
Robin Sharma. So I approached the book with some trepidation, but very quickly realised that this was a very different book from my previous experience of reading Robin Sharma.

In The GREATNESS GUIDE I like the fact that Robin Sharma doesn’t just focus on the commercial and professional world he also recognises the value of balance in your life.

He uses humour and little light moments to illustrate his points. There is also a real sense that the book is written for the world we live in now. The book is very easy to read as he uses anecdotes and stories throughout the book to illustrate his points. You also get a sense
that while he has worked with some of top CEOs, leading world entrepreneurs, rock stars and celebrities, he is very grounded.

While he certainly covers various tools to help you to set and achieve goals. There is a constant tread to lighten up and enjoy life and to value your health, family and friends. Some of the best insights in the book are the stories and comments he relates from some of
the top companies CEOS and entrepreneurs he has worked with. This helps to remind you that while these people have had huge success in their lives they have had also had failures,
but it is how they bounced back that is important.

There is a real human element to his recommendations. Yes he is giving you tools to help you to reach your goals, but I liked the fact that he reminds you of the key elements of life as well like respecting and appreciating others. If you are looking for a guide on goal setting or making changes this is a nice introduction without being overwhelming. Robin Sharma
has a lot of free resources on his website robinsharma.com
Inspire Coaching Now-The Introvert Entrepreneur

The Introvert Entrepreneur
By Beth Buelow

Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos are often grouped together as some of

the greatest entrepreneurs of our time, but they also have something else in common – they are all

introverts. In The Introvert Entrepreneur professional coach Beth Buelow shows us how introverts

can utilise their natural gifts (such as listening) and overcome their weaknesses (such as an aversion

to networking) when it comes to starting a business, taking on the mistaken but prevailing

assumption that entrepreneurial success belongs to the extroverts.

What many people, including introverts themselves may not know, is that the strengths and traits of

the typical introvert – curiosity, desire for depth over breadth, comfort with going solo,

thoroughness and thoughtfulness and love of research – lend themselves well to entrepreneurship. This book shares the stories and lessons from introverts who have built successful businesses and created a way of life that honours their natural energy. Topics covered include fears, mind-set, failure and self-management, values, networking, marketing, sales, creating community, partnership and expansion.

An introvert trying to be a fake extrovert is just that: a fake extrovert. The Introvert Entrepreneur takes a strengths-based approach to being a successful entrepreneur, while also
helping you deal with the particular roadblocks you may encounter when building a business.
